They tapped on the window of the tennis star’s car in an attempt to get him to sign the racquet, but Andy drove away.
The mix up occurred in north London on Wednesday night when the Scot was in a car with his agent.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said they received a call at 5pm to report a sighting of a man with a firearm in a Mercedes on Avenue Road, Swiss Cottage.
They were taken to Charing Cross station where they were questioned for four hours as police raided their homes.
Ahmed accidently hit Andy in the eye with a tennis programme last July. He is a known autograph hunter who sells signed memorabilia online.
A friend told The Sun: “He was held for so long as he has a big history with celebs. He’s very pushy but he’s no gangster.
“The car was seized as were laptops and mobile phones and the police still have these.
A spokesman for Andy said: Autograph hunters are around all the time. We didn’t call the police and knew nothing about the arrest until The Sun called.”
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “Police were called around 5pm on Wednesday by a member of the public reporting that they had seen a male in a Mercedes car in possession of a firearm.
“They were taken into custody and on November 7 bailed to return on a date in late January pending further investigation. A search of the car was conducted and no trace of a firearm was found. Inquiries continue.”
Murray was signing copies of his autobiography Seventy-Seven: My Road To Wimbledon Glory.
