Brad Pitt 'Buys £2 Million World War II Spitfire'

Brad Pitt has reportedly splashed out on a £2 million Spitfire World War II fighter plane after forming an interested in the period thanks to his new movie Fury. The A list star has been shooting the drama in Oxfordshire for the last few weeks, which centres on a division of Sherman tanks during the D Day landings of 1944.
According to a new report, Pitt, purchased the iconic British plane used by the RAF an will reportedly be taking lessons on how to fly at Boultbee Flying Academy, near to the set of Fury in Oxfordshire.

''Brad, who has done everything from sleep in the trenches to learn to drive a tank for the film, has now invested in one of the iconic machines," a source told The Sun.

A spokesperson for the Flying Academy refused to comment on claims they'll soon be taking the Hollywood legend up in the air.

''We don't comment on who we teach, but we have high-profile people. Buying Spitfires is very popular with wealthy individuals," a spokesperson.

Fury is said to be wrapping up it's seven week shoot with producers thanking the locals for their co-operation during the period. the film, also starring Shia LaBeouf and Michael Peqa, has brought around £1 million to the local economy according to the production company behind the movie, local paper the Henley Standard has reported.

"We know that filming in a close-knit community over seven weeks can at times present some challenges for the residents but we appreciate our mutual business relationship," producer Ethan Smith claimed in a letter to the community the paper has printed.

Brad, who is no stranger to the UK having also filmed World War Z here in 2012, thanked residence for their "warm welcome" during the just over two month shoot. He said in a message of thanks to the community: "We’ve experienced incredible hospitality and appreciate the warm welcome we’ve received from the local community."

While the community might appreciate the economic benefits of having a Brad Pitt movie shooting in its vicinity, it hasn't always been an easy relationship. Film makers were forced to apologise to residence after they shot scenes on Remembrance Sunday last month, which locals found showed a lack of respect.

In October, a stuntman was hurt on set after accidentally being stabbed with a bayonet. The 35-year-old man was shooting a one-on-one fight scene in Oxfordshire, according to The Independent. He was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital by air ambulance, but Thames Valley Police have insisted that the incident was not being treated as a crime.
