Lisa Robertson writes about her 7 years sexual abuse

Duck Dynasty star Lisa Robertson wrote, in the new book The Women of Duck Commander, about her seven years of sexual abuse, from age 7 to 14, by a family member. But now the reality star is speaking out further in an exclusive interview only to Closer Weekly, revealing she’s had other family members send her notes admitting they were victims, too.

“My husband was the very first person I told,” the 48-year-old says in the new issue of Closer. “God took my mess and made a message out of it, and He wants me to get out there and show the healing part.” While she’s cautious about saying she’s completely healed from her abuse, Lisa is certain she’s “no longer angry.”

Her biggest regret? “That I didn’t speak out sooner,” noting that since sharing her story, “I’ve had six of those cousins send me notes telling me it happened to them, too.I don’t know if it was the same person [who abused them],” she says, “but he had the same access to them.”

Making peace with her past hasn’t come easily. “I shared every holiday with this person,” Lisa recalls about her relative, who lived with her grandparents and denied any wrongdoing when Lisa’s mother confronted him about it five years ago. “He came to me and said, ‘If I did do that, I’m sorry, but I don’t remember it,’” Lisa tells Closer, and she went ahead and gave her tormentor her forgiveness anyway.-CLOSER WEEKLY
